Let me start by saying I don’t usually make fan art. However, there was an opportunity that presented itself last year in which I decided to show my appreciation for Troma Entertainment as well as Toxie himself. If you’re not familiar with the Toxic Avenger, he began as a 98-pound nerd in New Jersey who landed in toxic waste and became a mutant superhero.

The image above is a mashup of the Toxic Avenger and a pamphlet released by the NYPD in the 1970s called Welcome to Fear City. This so-called “survival guide” featured a badass Grim Reaper on the cover and was aimed at tourists, to help prevent them from being mugged, assaulted or worse, at a time when crime was out of control and the city was pretty gritty.

I thought it was fitting, being that Troma was founded in the 70s, in New York City and they themselves are pretty gritty.
